WAIT A MINUTE... WE WON!

Since the game this past weekend versus ULL, I have heard several Gamecock fans, media outlets and even the OBC bemoan our showing in the game. Granted it wasn't a 40 point victory, there are a lot of positive things to take away from the game. Most of them could be considered opinion until you back it up with stats. So let's do that.

STAT 1
South Carolina had 27 first down this past weekend. ULL only had 17. While I would say Oklahoma State is probably better than ULL, Georgia managed to only obtain 18 first downs. Has anyone noticed that everyone has been talking about how good Georgia is this year and how bad Carolina is?

So what does that mean? Well it means we moved the football pretty damn well.

STAT 2
South Carolina racked up 195 yards rushing and 238 passing yards for a total of 433 yards. ULL racked up 252 yards rushing but only 63 through the air for a total of 315. Georgia gained 142 on the ground and 234 passing for a total of 376.

Considering we were starting two quarterbacks who had never started a game before, I would consider this pretty good.

There are many more to back up my position that this was a pretty good showing by our Gamecocks but really what I am trying to say is this "the sky is not falling." I still feel like we have the ability to beat Georgia this coming weekend and it to do it in style.
