NIX SLAPS HIS PLAYERS AROUND

When confronted about the problems with the SC defense, Tyrone Nix (I refuse to call him coach any longer) had this to say:

“Some of the guys we’ve had out there haven’t played very tough and they haven’t played with outstanding effort. I’m the idiot because I keep putting them out there and allowing it,” Nix said. “I’ve got to do a better job of evaluating what we’re doing, and who’s performing (and) who’s not.”

Holy CRAP! What a man. Instead of owning up, he blamed the players. Let me tell you something Mr. Nix, you just crossed the line even further with me. I am sure you do not care, but you my friend have got some nerve.

He did come close to taking a little ownership though.

"The things that we did on third downs, a lot of them were mistakes, missed tackles,” Nix said. “And then some of it was poor calls or game plan. Some of it was me.”

Oh and how about this little gem...

Nix used a three-man front against the Gators with defensive end Clifton Geathers, a 6-foot-7 freshman, aligned at nose guard. Nix said the new wrinkle was designed to get a taller player in the face of quarterback Tim Tebow in passing situations.

Tebow passed for a career-high 304 yards without getting sacked once in 32 pass attempts.

“It didn’t work,” Nix said. “So we’re not going to do it again.”

Thank you "Captain Understatement." Where is "Boy Duh?" Let me say this back to you and see if I am missing something. You thought using three down lineman against a heisman caliber QB, who can run like a super charged hemi, would a.) produce sacks b.) give him little room to run and c.) make it harder for him to pass.

Let's evaluate that shall we?

5 offenseive lineman versus 3 defensive lineman. Even in first grade math, those number look bad. Yeah but if you drop 8 in to coverage, how can he throw? Well one he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. He can easily follow 5 blocking 3 in to open field and two, because 5 can block 3 pretty easily, there is no pass rush. Given enough time an SEC receiver is going to get open.

I don't hate you Mr. Nix. I just think you are out of your league and to be quite honest, I don't appreciate you pushing the blame to the players. They didn't play well because you didn't give them a chance to.
