Wow. I was expecting us to fall but to 17th? Holy crap. Kentucky #15 (who we beat by the way), Florida #11 and LSU #3 are the SEC teams ranked ahead of us. Bringing up the rear in the top 25 are Georgia #19, Auburn #23 and Alabama #24. Of course this is just the USA Today poll. The BCS and AP are not out yet.

The week 3 rankings are out and S Car is ranked 12TH in the AP poll and and 14th in the USA TODAY poll.
THE SC STATE GAME:
Let us start with the obvious, Xavier Littleberry did not sack Blake Mitchell. Despite claiming he was going to "beat" on Blake Mitchell the entire game, SCSU only sacked a Gamecock QB twice and Xavier Littleberry was not involved in either of them. As a matter of fact, Xavier only had one tackle the entire game. I guess DIV 1A was a little tougher than he expected it to be.
Despite this, the game wasn't exactly a confidence booster for Ole Blake. Blake played Ok. He completed 14 out of 21 passes and had 3 picked off. He finished up with 147 yards and 3 TDS. Again, we didn't lose the game, but blake is going to have to play a hell of a lot better is we hope to beat LSU next week. To tell the truth, Blake looked as if he was sleeping walking for most of the game.
The true stars on offense, Saturday were our running backs. With the offense gaining little ground through the air, Spurrier turned to RAZZLE and DAZZLE (Mike Davis and Cory Boyd respectfully). The duo racked up 237 yards on the ground.
Of course, the defense showed up and pitched a almost shut out. If not for a lucky bounce in to the field goal, the SC STATE BULLDOGS would not have scored period. Their only score was set-up by an interception early in the game. The ball was booted, it hit the upright and bounced in.
Looking ahead.
LSU is a dynamic team. They are currently ranked #2 in the country and up to this point, none of their games have been close. They stomped Mississippi State in the opener, 45-0. They blasted VA TECH 48-7. And they pasted Middle Tennessee 44-0 on Saturday.
The only comfort in the above paragraph is this... LSU really has not played anyone. VA TECH just isn't that good this year and Mississippi State has not been good in awhile. Middle Tennessee is well... Middle Tennessee. Even though, LSU has scored more than 40 points in each of their first three games, they have not faced a defense like South Carolina's. On the other hand, we have not faced a defense like LSU's. LSU has only allowed 7 points all year. Not average... all YEAR!
LSU will be a tough game and hopefully we can pull it out.
During my pre-season picks, I listed LSU as the only for sure loss. I hope I am wrong.
After their "not as close as the score" win over the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, it seems everyone else is realizing what we already knew... South Carolina can play some football. The rankings are out. Here are the polls:

17. South Carolina (2-0) W, at Auburn (Cool Chicken Edit: I think they mean Georgia) 16-12next game: South Carolina State
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because … it you can beat Georgia in Athens, you’re doing something right. The defense stuffed the young, but talented Bulldog offense and held tough when it had to.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... the offense still needs work. Yeah, the Georgia defense has quickly reloaded, but it still would’ve been nice if the Gamecock offense had done a little bit more. The South Carolina State game will be vital to tune up
