Let me make this clear: I don’t care if you agree with me or not. The simple and plain fact is that your way (the way of most Carolina fans since the football programs inception) DOES NOT WORK. Making excuses and accepting the state of the football program has gotten us NO WHERE. We are mediocre.
I am vociferous. I have my opinions. I will say what I want to say and that is that. So, send me emails, post on other websites about me. Call me names. However, think about it, who should you really be mad at? Me or the ones who have allowed our program to become what it is?
Labels: BITE ME
Stop sending me emails telling me that I am no better than a Clemson fan because I am calling for Coach Nix's head.
I know I get passionate and I am a little excitable. But, I am a gamecock through and through. I was born a gamecock and I will die a gamecock. I had just one more thing I wanted to say. I have received 4 emails from "Carolina fans" claiming that my calling for Coach Nix's resignation (on the website) makes me no better than a Clemson fan. Well guess what Gamecock Nation, As much as I want puke saying it: RIGHT NOW CLEMSON HAS A BETTER PROGRAM THAN WE DO! As long as we keep making excuses and accepting mediocrity, they always will.
That is the problem with changing the culture around South Carolina. Coaches change and players graduate but the fans are fans for life. As long as the fans put up with this kind of crap, there is no changing the culture. Until the gamecock nation stands up and demands accountability, nothing will change.
This means accountability on all levels. Why do we act like a coach is doing us a favor by coaching the team? The coaches get paid well to do their job and when they fail, they need to be called out. We don't need to sit back and wait for someone to save us. We need to save ourselves. Unfortunately, we would rather make excuses.
Sigmund Freud believed that some narcissism is an essential part of all of us from birth.
Yes I am a narcicistic and damn proud of it. Of course, I think what I have to say matters. Of course, I think I am the greatest person on Earth. Why shouldn’t I love me? I have to live with me everyday for the rest of my life… If I don’t like and or listen to myself then who the hell else will.
So, writing to me in an attempt to discredit me or attacking me by calling me narcacistic, will only get you a “thank you.”
Now, in regards to you folks jumping all over me for calling our Steve Spurrier, Coach asked me to do that. You heard me. He asked me to.
Last year after South Carolina played Auburn down to the wire, I stood up and clapped along with several thousand of my fellow Gamecocks. Coach Spurrier called out the Gamecock nation saying that we should not clap or applaud a loss. He said we should not accept mediocrity. Further more, he has on more than one occasion said that if we (Carolina Fans) didn’t like what we saw on the football field, we should let them know.
I do not accept mediocrity. There I said it. Wow. Having been a Gamecock fan for so long, that was hard to say. I really was brain washed in to thinking that moral victories existed and that effort mattered more than the win. I concerned myself with avoiding hurting the feelings of players and coaches. Those poor kids tried so hard. Not any more, I expect wins. I expect an SEC championship. That is why we pay Spurrier and that is why we give those kids Scholarships.
Spurrier is not Holtz and will not get away with under delivering on his promises.
Why not South Carolina? I don’t know Coach. That is up to you to answer. Get to it.
Speaking of mediocrity, South Carolina would have to be lifted up to mediocrity if the way we played against Vandy was the norm. That wasn’t even mediocre, that was piss poor.
Proving my point...
Deja Vu! 4 years ago when I decided to speak out against Gamecock Central's policy on preventing links from your posts/signatures and charging for free news, I got banned. As I have mentioned before, the popular website: COCKYTALK was started at about the same time and Chuck Hoskins was so convincing when he said that he never wanted to be like them. Recently, COCKYTALK started removing links from signatures and of course, with me being me, I spoke out against it. I compared this move to the one Gamecock Central pulled.
When I tried to log in today, I got this message: (you are going to have to click it to read it.)
Thus proving my point. Cockytalk has turned in to what it swore it would never be, A Gamecock Central knock-off. How long before they start charging you?
