Move over Rocky, there is another over 60 ego maniac looking for a fight!
Spurrier said if Gators coach Urban Meyer had known what was going to happen after the Bulldogs' first touchdown last week, he should have sent out ''one of his third-team guys and get in a wrestling match with the guys, get a fight started.'
And that my friends, is another reason I love Coach Spurrier!

ATHENS—The Humane Society of Georgia today released a statement in reaction to the news that Steve Spurrier, Head Coach of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, is being investigated for alleged animal abuse.
Yesterday, a search warrant was issued for a property owned by Spurrier, in Athens, Georgia. According to reports, law enforcement authorities discovered dawgs in a state of apparent confusion, anger, and pain. The Georgia Animal Abuse Taskforce was on the scene. Officers discovered up to 80 dawgs, several with wounds believed to be from cock fighting, according to sources. Authorities allege that on at least 12 different occasions, Spurrier has engaged in beating and torturing dawgs in Athens, Georgia, Jacksonville, Florida, and Gainesville, Florida.
"The Humane Society of Georgia has heard troubling reports for some time that Spurrier has been involved in organized dawg beating, and we fear that this investigation may validate that very disturbing allegation," said Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The Humane Society of Georgia. "We urge law enforcement to aggressively investigate this matter, and we further believe that anyone who continuously beats dawgs deserves to be fully prosecuted their crimes. Dawg beating is a barbaric activity that causes immense player, coach, and fan suffering and fosters sorrow in our Georgia communities.“

Alright. I can post again.
So... I was wrong. Actually, I was wrong about a gew things and it took me till this evening to come to grips with it.
If I posted before now... I would have spewed venom and hate all over the board.
Georgia rolled in and whooped our asses. Like many Gamecock fans (specifically the ones I was watching the game with) I watched mouth agape. This team looked nothing like the team we fielded last year. Or even a shadow of the offenses Spurrier has offered up in the past.
I found myself questioning the old ball coach for the first time since he came to South Carolina. You are on the opposing teams one yard line and you call a... pitch back? You are playing catch up and you... throw it on a 2 yard slant? What the hell?
But then... I started to think about it a little. Over the last four games... (Clemson, the bowl game, MSU and UGA) Spurrier has been a little more conservative.
So... who to blame?
Let's use the most obvious target... Blake Mitchell.
Great throwing arm. Accurate. He bulked up. So what's wrong? He is not a leader.
Think about it this way... When Newton is on the field (At QB) the offense sparks. Why? Because he has urgency. He wants to shove the ball down someone's throat. Mitchell strolls up to center with a "Wow... there is a ball game going on" look on his face. He reminds visually of what a deer must think when the headlight smashes against his temple... a clear "oh shit!" moment.
Even when Smelley was at the helm there was more pep in the centers step.
Don't think for one moment this is easy for me to write. I have been one of Blake's loudest fans. But his actions this week have really caused me to rethink my previous state of mind.
Here is the scenario... You just got your ass handed to you by Georgia. Not only that but your squad could barely move the ball. Your coach... one of the most respected men in the game tells the world he is making changes. Your starting position is on the line... and you go out clubbing. There is something wrong with that. You should be studying the plays. Practicing. Not punching a bouncer in 5 points.
Blake you have made a believer of me. Not in you... but in what others have said. I'm sorry kid but I simply can't support you.

Here we go! I hate to say our season rests in one game... but it does. Consider this as well: Last year... we beat Georgia... we win the SEC EAST. The winner of this game is in the drivers seat. As with last week, we are being counted out. All the experts are predicting a Georgia win.
Here is what I said in my preseason prediction:
September 9th – Georgia – Columbia South CarolinaOuch. Payback is a beyotch. Georgia barely escaped with their lives IN GEORGIA last year. Out gained, out gunned and out played they still found a way to win which of course is part Georgia’s legacy. That is going to change this year. South Carolina is a little bit better and Georgia is a little bit worse. No David Greene. No DJ Shockley. I expect this one to be a very close game but as a Gamecock fan, I have to believe Carolina will pull it out.Prediction: Gamecock Win*Note – College Football News chose this as a key game for both South Carolina and Georgia.
I stand by that. I think it will be close. A defensive struggle. I hope I am wrong. I hope SC blows em out. However, keeping in mind this is the real world... I think SC wins by a touchdown or less. So... take your heart pills and strap in for what could be the best game of the season.
