Coach Spurrier and Eric Norwood to receive more awards...
The Davey O'Brien Foundation proudly announces Steve Spurrier as the
2007 Davey O'Brien Legends Award winner in recognition of his life-long contributions to the game of football. The Award will be presented at the Foundation's 31st Annual Awards Dinner on Feb.18 at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The Davey O'Brien Legends Award recognizes a college or professional quarterback who has made a significant contribution to the game of football, distinguished himself as an extraordinary leader and demonstrated exemplary conduct on and off the football field.

South Carolina end Eric Norwood has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week for games of Oct. 6. Norwood, a 6-foot, 258-pound sophomore from Acworth, Ga., returned two fumbles for touchdowns and also registered five unassisted tackles in South Carolina's 38-23 victory over Kentucky.
The Gamecocks are well represented this week in the SEC players of the week.

# Norwood became just the fourth player in NCAA Division I history to return two fumbles for touchdowns in a single game.
# In addition to his five total tackles, Norwood had one tackle for a loss, two pass deflections and a quarterback pressure.
# South Carolina's defense forced four Kentucky turnovers in the game.

# Smelley directed two fourth quarter scoring drives that helped secure the victory for the Gamecocks. Both drives ended on Smelley TD passes.
# For the season, Smelley has completed 58-of-107 passes for 810 yards with six TDs and three interceptions.

CB CAPTAIN MUNNERLYN (South Carolina) -- Logged seven total tackles with an interception and fumble recovery against Kentucky.
